WIFE OF LAUNDRY BARON DEAD

Louise Jefferson, known to her friends as "Weazie", was found dead late yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Jefferson is best known as the wife of African-American Laundromat entrepreneur George Jefferson. An outspoken advocate for the African-American community, Mrs. Jefferson occasionally earned the enmity of her neighbors, especially when the Jefferson's integrated an all-white community in Queens in the early 1970's.
Police are investigated her death and have not ruled out foul play. The New York City Police are interested in speaking with an unknown man seen leaving the Jefferson apartment just hours before the body was found. The man is described as elderly, stocky, with white hair and smoking a cigar. This man drove off in a Taxi and his first name may be Archie.
