POLITICS AND VIETNAM
By Stockton

I must hang my head in shame every time I hear you referred to as the commander in chief. The men who commanded me in Viet Nam were men who could be respected and trusted. Men who I would lay down my life for, and who would do the same for me. WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOUR COUNTRY NEEDED YOU.--A.G. US Army Retired

Hey creep, where were you on 3/19/71, two days after my 19th birthday when Gene R. Kennedy died at the age of 19. Sepa La Chingada, huh? --Jose Garcia U.S. Army RVN 1970-1971

Where were you when, in Vietnam on the 30th of April 1968, while B Co, 1st Bn, 3d Marines were crossing a river on top of AmTracs and were ambushed from the village of An Lac, when my Platoon assaulted the village and we lost so many? And the next day when what was left of B Co launched an assault on the village of Dai Do and more brave Marines and Navy Corpsman, and Am Trac Marines paid again the price for freedom? Let me tell you about the Marine that went in your place; he was the only surviving Officer from B Co after An Lac and Dai Do. His name is 2d Lt Thomas Keppen. After these two hard-fought battles that he survived, and on the 7th of July 1968, he laid down his very life in order to save another Marine. He was my Friend and Brother and I WILL NEVER FORGET. -- SSgt John G In-Country Vietnam Veterans Inc.

Where were you, when the call went out for volunteers? Where were you when the MEN were asked to take a step forward? What price have you paid - what sacrifice have you made, to secure your nation's liberty? In the Marine Corps we had a name for your kind: Jody. The ones who matter know what it means. 30 years later and you are still Jody and proud of it.
I shouldn't have gotten started on this...I know where I was. I don't even care where you were. I just wish you had stayed there and save the country the embarrassment of having to call you Mr. President. Gunny Fallon

Where were you Chicken Hawk, when I was an 18 year old arriving at Tan-Son-Nhut airport in January 1965. Where were you when I was transferred to Phu Bai a week later? Where were you when two weeks later sappers hit us? Where were you when an 18 year old saw real death? Where were you last year when one of my closest friends died from cancer from Agent Orange, he was in DaNang in 1964! Where were you, and where are you now? But I know where you won't be. You won't be out there dying. You'll be safe. I think I know where you'll be after you die.

We know what the President's defenders will say: "Vietnam was thirty years ago", "This election is about the future, not the past," ....

They are correct on both counts. But, we here at LB in '04 are just curious as to where the people quoted above, and many others like them, stand today. We'd like to hear from them. I'm sure they will make many claims to being nonpartisan. The quotes originated here.
