POLITICAL NAMES
By Stockton

Ever thought of running for public office but have such a funny name that you think you can't win? Check out these names and think again.

Kaneaster Hodges (Gov-AR 1977-1979) Sorry, but Hodges is just funny.

Dale Bumpers (Gov-AR 1971-1975, Sen-1975-1999) His wife's name is better. Dale Bumpers married to Betty Bumpers.

Rice Shafroth (Sen-CO 1913-1919) Just rolls off the tongue.

Outerbridge Horsey (Sen-DE 1810-1821)

Buckner Thruston (Sen-KY 1803-1809) Say it five times fast.

Ruby Lafoon (Gov-KY 1931-1935)

Ruffin Pleasant (Gov-LA 1916-1920) So, how do you like it?

William Smallwood (Gov-MD 1785-1788) His wife was very disappointed.

Rufus Blodgett (Sen-NJ 1887-1893) Sounds like a Harry Potter or a Dickens character. "Blodgett was dead, to begin with."

Samuel Pennypacker (Gov-PA 1903-1907)

And contemporary politicians also suffer.

Mike Crapo (Sen-ID)

and our all-time favorite.....

Dick Swett (Rep-NH)

Sure, they'll say it's pronounced differently, but we know better.
