EDWARDS YEARS AS TRIAL LAWYER; "A YOUTHFUL INDISCRETION."
By Tweed

Less than forty-eight hours after been named Senator John Kerry's running mate, Senator John Edwards is embroiled in damage control. After being attacked for being a "trial lawyer", Edwards backed away from his chosen profession.

"I was young," explained the North Carolina Senator. "I was a bit crazy. My twenty plus years as a trial lawyer was a mere youthful indiscretion."

Republican National Chairman Ed Gillespie wasn't buying that explanation. "This is a guy who wants to be a heartbeat away from the presidency," said Gillespie. "Yet, where are the DUI's? Has this guy ever borrowed money from his father's friends? Has this guy ever failed in business?"

Edwards scurried to repair the damage, stating that he once left the room without turning off the lights.

Gillespie was gleeful. "Our ticket has three, maybe four DUI's to its credit. Edwards only claim to fame is going out, working for a living and providing for his family. That's not what Americans want in an elected official."
