CONVERSATIONS WITH ANN
By Stockton

Some time ago, when news of Mr. Limbaugh's drug use surfaced, I corresponded with Ms. Ann Coulter. I thought I'd share this lively exchange with the brilliant conservative commentator. I pride myself on knowing when I've been beat and this was one such occasion.

Dear Ms. Coulter:

Your apologia for Mr. Limbaugh was some of the most beautiful prose I have read since buying a F-Troop script on e-bay. Indeed, you have shown almost as much philosophical range as Larry Storch.

Mr. Limbaugh is the talking points machine for your beloved and patriotic Grand Old Party. The party of Family Values and real patriotism (should I capitalize Patriotism so I am not considered a traitor?) Now, come to find out, he's a junkie. Moderate and liberal Americans find it funny, that's all. Lighten up. It's not as if he is important. If he goes the way of the DoDo (which he will not, his sycophantic fans will not give up) some other obnoxious fascist will take his place. I think it should be you rather than Hannity. Hannity is a lightweight.

On Treason. Great book. Read a few chapters. Could not stop laughing. I had no idea you had a sense of humor. Let us run down the list of former and present Senators who have served their country in war time:

1) Kerry and Kerrey;
2) McGovern (I know. Can you believe it)
3) Inouye (won medals and everything, just like Cheney)
4) Akaka (traitor in our midst)
5) Heflin (a Marine, just like Ollie)
6) Dale Bumpers (Marine, just like Ollie)
7) Alan Cranston (Cranston served and Cheney didn't? No way)
8) Lawton Chiles
9) John Kennedy (can't forget that traitor)
10) Chuck Robb (but he had that Arnold problem, didn't he)
11) Tom Harkin (pinko)
12) Wendell Ford (funny Mitch McConnell didn't join up for Vietnam)
13) James Exon
14) Frank Lautenberg (A liberal and a Jew)
15) Pat Moynihan
16) Terry Sanford
17) John Glenn (he did something else too)
18) Ernest Hollings
19) Jesus, even Daschle was in the Air Force
20) Al Gore
21) Lloyd Bentsen
22) Lyndon Johnson
23) Ed Muskie
24) Scoop Jackson
25) Max Cleland
Boy, I'm getting tired.

Now, in all fairness, we have:

John McCain (but you guys don't like him)
Strom Thurmond (and he was old when he joined)
Mark Hatfield (I'm sure you guys really liked him)
Chuck Hagel (why is he critical of Bush?)
Ted Stevens
Hank Brown
William Roth
Bob Dole
Warren Rudman (don't like him either)
Jesse Helms
John Chafee (you guys couldn't stand him)
Larry Pressler
John Warner (WWII and Korea)
Dick Nixon (I believe he served)

Not senators but:

Dick Armey
Tom Delay (too busy killing cockroaches I guess)
Dick Cheney (you guys have alot of Dicks)

Connie Mack (right age for Vietnam, sat it out)
Larry Craig (right age, no go)
Where was Mitch McConnell
Trent Lott (too busy cheerleading)
Ashcroft (CO like Ali?)
Judd Gregg (21 when the Tet Offensive began)
Pete Domenici (Korea was calling)
Don Nickles (National Guard?)
Dan Quayle (we know all about that)
Phil Gramm (too busy teaching at TX A& M)

George Bush (National Guard, but, the VC never stepped a foot into Texas under his watch)

So, let me get this straight. While men like Kerry, Kerrey, Robb where stemming the tide of the Red Menace,

George was doing jello shots in his dorm at the elite Yale;
Armey was teaching a class;
Quayle was doing whatever he did back then;
Lott was cheerleading;
Delay was stepping on roaches;
Ashcroft was (what? covering statues?)
Gramm was teaching (another pointy headed academic)

In that light, your book actually makes sense.

Love

Traitor

Ms. Coulter's reply was short, yet undercut my entire thesis.

you are a traitor

I did, of course, sign my name. You simply cannot beat these guys. They're real good. Her e-mail was anncoulter@aol.com. I do not know if it has been changed because we've since had a falling out.

We also have correspondence with David Frum. We'll try and dig that out.
